Grenagh ICA Guild Celebrates Nollaig na mBan

Grenagh ICA members got 2012 off to a flying start by celebrating Nollaig na mBan in Ardmore, Co. Waterford where they traced their way around the Cliff Walk and then Ardmore beach. Well wrapped up for the bracing sea air they had some fun trying to light Chinese lanterns to drift into the sky lifting any cares from 2011 and to welcome in a happier New Year.

Later the ‘Knitwits’ sat around a blazing turf fire – some knitting various styles of scarves and games of charades brought hoots of laughter from the members.

Our only smoker was given the title of Peig Sayers or Bean a’ Tí as she sat really close to the fire so her cigarette smoke could join that of the fire!

A great mix of food, drink, songs and fun meant everyone enjoyed the break, so much so, we hope to repeat it again in the very near future.

The ‘Knitwits’ have returned after their Christmas break and meet every Monday night at the Village Inn, Grenagh @ 9.00 p.m.
