This is just a preliminary notice about this competition. Further details will be given later.
The competition for the Betty Manning Trophy is normally held every second year and its aims are:
a) to encourage guilds to provide a varied and interesting programme for their members and to cater for a wide range of interests.
b) to encourage guild members to participate in guild activities.
c) to give guilds an opportunity to promote their guild.
The first competition for this trophy was to produce a Guild Year Book giving details of all guild activities for the ICA year 2008-2009. The Year Book offered Guilds an opportunity to record their work within the Guild and in their communities, and to present it using the creativity and skill of members. The Guilds competed within each county and then each Federation sent two winning books on for judging at national level. Considerable time and effort was invested in the development of the Guild Year Books and 49 were put forward to the national competition in 2009.
The books showed the wonderful range of activities going on in guilds all around the country.
