National Brown Bread Baking Competition 2026

The National Brown Bread Baking Competition 2026 was held on Tuesday 28th of July in An Grianán. With an amazing 26 entries, the atmosphere around the house was amazing all day.

The participants and their guests were treated to a phenomenal cookery demonstration by Chef Edward Hayden followed by a gorgeous lunch before competition judges Edward and Conor Grimes of Louth GAA had the tough job of choosing the winners from the amazing entries .

All participants were awarded a certificate before the 3 winners were announced.

A huge congratulations to Ann Loftus, Mayo ICA Federation, Ber Ennis, Westmeath ICA Federation and Geraldine Maguire, Meath ICA federation who will compete in the final at the National Ploughing Championships in September.

A huge thank you to the NPA, Euronics for their sponsorship, Edward Hayden and Conor Grimes for judging the competition and to all the participants.

We look forward to cheering on Ann, Ber and Geraldine down at the National Ploughing Championships being held in Screggan, Tullamore, County Offaly from the 15th – 17th of September.
